Brent R. Nicklas
Brent Nicklas is the Founder of Lexington Partners. Mr. Nicklas, who is no longer active in the Firm, was non-executive Chairman of Lexington from 2018 to 2022. Prior to becoming Chairman in 2018, Mr. Nicklas, as Managing Partner of Lexington, primarily managed the Firm’s investment operations and oversaw Lexington’s secondary and co-investment funds. He founded Lexington in 1994.
Mr. Nicklas is widely credited with helping to develop the secondary market for private equity and alternative investment interests, and creating CIP, one of the first independent co-investment programs.
From 1988 to 1994, Mr. Nicklas was a founding partner of Landmark Partners where he was instrumental in pioneering the secondary market for private equity interests. From 1976 to 1988, Mr. Nicklas was a member of the Capital Markets division at Merrill Lynch where he specialized in private and public equity investments.
Mr. Nicklas graduated from Amherst College with a BA (Honors) in economics and from the Stanford Graduate School of Business with an MBA.
